One
of the highlights of the Queensland motor sport calendar,
the 2004 Shannons Historic and Classic Car Festival,
is on again at Queensland Raceway on 24 and 25 July,
with new innovations set to make this the best in the
event's 27 year history.
This
is the second largest car race meeting in Queensland,
only beaten by the V8 Super Cars.
Apart
from the largest and most valuable gathering of historic
race cars in Queensland and the usual massive show and
shine, there will be an all new swap meet and the very
popular rocker cover racing will make a debut.
Racing
wise, there will be something for everyone, with cars
ranging from pre-war specials through open-wheel wings
and slicks cars, the ever-exciting historic touring
cars which now include Group C cars.

This
year a rare collection of Chrysler/Dodge (MOPAR) Marques
will be displayed by Shannons on Sunday. Some of these
cars will not have been seen before in Ausralia. A novelty
event will be 'Rocker Cover Racing" where competing
rocker covers have to meet defined weight and size dimensions,
and may have as many wheels as possible. Racing starts
at the top of a ramp, competitors must stay in their
lane and winners will be first across the line.
